Today has been a good day

I finished chapter 2 of Guardian Current, my Merlock holmescest fic inspired by Jinglebell's Riptide Lover. I do hope more people will check this fic out. It so far has attracted very little in the way of comments and kudos. I get that fanfic of fanfic is niche, but really you need not have read Riptide Lover to enjoy this fic. If you like merlock (or mercroft), I think you will like this. And I think it's one of my more approachable fics. It's still pretty angsty, but there's no sexual assault or abuse here.

I'm also really proud of Ravelry for announcing their ban on supporting Trump or his administration on the site. They already had taken steps to do things like ban confederate flag and "build the wall" patterns as hate speech, but now they've gone further and said that defending Trump and his policies is supporting White supremacy. I've felt increasingly helpless as we're hearing more about these migrant children being detained in filthy cages, and it just makes me feel so much better that someone, somewhere is doing something.

It also inspires me to work on my FTH fics. Guardian Current is FTH, and I have two more that I need to crank out before the end of the year. I am very, very stuck on Dance 'Till You're Dead, so I will probably finish up Guardian Current and the other fic, not yet started but which is to be a Sherstrade BDSM piece, first. I'm thinking of setting that one pre-canon with junkie!Sherlock goading a miserably married Greg into sex and kink. I'm excited about it, but I want to get Guardian Current done first.

I'm hoping I've turned a corner on my depression. My doctor switched me from Latuda to Vraylar since I was sleeping all the time on the Latuda and the Vraylar is more stimulating. I'm currently taking a half dose of each and will switch to taking the Vraylar on it's own at the end of the week. I'm kind of sad not to finish out my Latuda script because it's so very expensive, but oh well.

I hope it will last. Today is Monday so I'm hating the world a bit right now. But I hope I will feel better tomorrow.

I just learned that the Ravelry ban is in response to a Trump supporter and her friends going after a Latina woman who reported one of their hateful patterns to the mods. Doxxing was involved. Ravelry did the right thing.

Okay I asked to join that group. I hadn't heard of them before. It sounds like a worthwhile thing. I just want to do something to fight this administration and its evil policies. I give money to the ACLU every month, but it just doesn't feel like enough.

Congratulations on the turning of a corner. Get the Latuda and hoard it in case your meds change again!

I love Riptide Lover, and will read Guardian Current when it's done. Just plug it around noisily.

Good call. I guess I will keep what's left of my Latuda in case I ever need it again. For now, I am getting samples of the Vraylar. I'm assuming it will also be very expensive since it's a new drug. It's one of the very few antidepressants (actually technically it's an anti-psychotic) that treats bipolar depression. It actually only just got approved for treating depression, previously they only prescribed it for acute manic or mixed episodes, but my doctor said he was prescribing it to his bipolar patients for years and it works on depressive episodes, too. So, it's nice to have a drug that will treat both the ups and downs, though I haven't had a mixed or manic episode since 2017.

The side effects are kind of scary, and include things like tremors and seizures (as well as the dreaded weight gain) but so far I haven't experienced any.
