Pillowfort TOS BS

"So, I’m getting kind of bad feelings about Pillowfort’s recent announcement that they’re not going to allow explicit artwork depicting underage characters. 

donut_donut​ wrote a great post  that I’m going to quote from here because she said it better than I could:

But what I don’t like is that they acted not based on a law, or on a firm philosophical position, but on one person’s reflexive squick. And that’s no way to run a website! You’ve just got to have some kind of consistency.

I don’t like that they’re leaving this to the subjective whims of moderators to judge on a case by case basis rather than having an objective policy. 

Also, they banned a user who hadn’t actually violated the TOS, since they didn’t have this rule in their TOS (and still don’t) and only restored their account after they complained? And they said that they restored all the content except for the post featuring explicit art of an underage character, but the user says their content wasn’t restored at the time that PF mods made those posts (it is now). Not exactly transparent. This doesn’t give me a lot of faith in their mods in whose judgement we’re supposed to trust.

So yeah, the way the mods handled this situation is making me gun-shy. I personally do not consume underage fanart, but I’m worried that anti-shippers and purity wankers are going to take this as a sign that PF is the platform for them. I’m seeing some comments on that post that say things like “it has been shown that things such as loli/shota have been used to normalize CP,” “it’s weird for grown adults to draw porn of children. idk why so many people are rushing to die on that hill.” The usual purity wank rhetoric."

Then I tagged some people on tumblr whose opinions I wanted but I don't think they're on Dreamwidth so I'm opening it up to people here to see what you guys think.
